New Delhi. There is barely a week left for IPL 2024 to start. The first match is to be played between RCSB and Chennai Super Kings. On one hand, RCSB is celebrating its first title win in WPL 2024, while on the other hand, tension is rising for CSK. Key players of the team are already out due to injuries and now MS Dhoni’s team has suffered another blow. Bangladeshi bowler Mustafizur Rahman has suffered a serious injury during a practice session.
Mustafizur, who represents Khulna Victorian franchise in the Bangladesh Premier League, was preparing for bowling practice. Meanwhile, Matthew Ford was in the middle of his batting practice. Mustafizur fell victim to a powerful shot from Ford, which hit him on the back of the head. He was given immediate treatment on the field before being taken off on a stretcher. He is currently hospitalized, raising doubts over his return in the upcoming IPL matches.
Chennai had invested Rs 20 million in the IPL 2024 auction considering Mustafizur for death overs bowling. However, his injury has raised concerns for CSK. Earlier, CSK had already suffered a setback with injuries to fast bowlers Mathisha Pathirana and Devon Conway. Now injuries have become a matter of great concern for Chennai.
