The People’s Liberation Army has kept forward about 50,000 troops with weapons since several incursions in eastern Ladakh in April-May 2020. The Indian Army is also strongly deployed in all sectors of the 3488 km long LAC, which is ready to respond to China’s every move. The Indian Army is deployed from eastern Ladakh to Arunachal Pradesh.

The army chief expressed hope that diplomatic and military talks with China would lead to a solution in the strategically located Depsang plains and Demchok in eastern Ladakh. He said, ‘We can find a solution only by talking among ourselves. This is our aim and effort in all disputed matters. Till that happens, the deployment and vigilance of our forces will remain the same.
Counter-intrusion grid intercepts Pakistani drone
Speaking on Pakistan, the army chief said the Indian Army’s counter-infiltration grid along the 778-km LoC with Pakistan has reduced the deterrence of infiltration. Apart from this, the arrival of drones from across the border has also reduced. An increase in weapons and drugs was being seen due to drones. Also, there has been no major reduction in the terror infrastructure present in Pakistan. General Pandey said, “Despite the domestic political instability and economic slowdown in Pakistan, I think we have to be very cautious about the LoC and the IB.”
