Tension between India and China has increased significantly on the LAC in Ladakh. In the midst of all this, China has continued its nefarious activities on the rest of its borders with India. The People’s Liberation Army (PLA) of China has kidnapped a 17-year-old boy from the Arunachal Pradesh border. State MP Tapir Gao gave this information to the Centre. The central government on Thursday said it has asked the Chinese military to trace the child and return it as per protocol.
Defense sources said on Thursday that the Indian Army had immediately contacted the PLA after receiving information about the disappearance of Miram Taron from Arunachal Pradesh. Assistance has been sought from the PLA to locate it in their areas and return it as per ASTD protocol.
Arunachal Pradesh MP Gao said the boy was abducted from Upper Siang district on Wednesday. The MP said that the PLA made another attempt to kidnap the youth but he managed to escape and informed the local administration about the abduction of his accomplice. Gao said he had briefed Minister of State for Home Nitish Pramanik on the entire matter and sought his immediate release with the help of government agencies.
Earlier in September 2020, China also took a similar step. The PLA kidnapped five people from Upper Subansiri district of Arunachal Pradesh. After the issue was raised by the local media, the then Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju took up the issue with China and ensured the release of the abducted people.
