According to the police, this clash took place between BJD and BJP workers late on Wednesday night. This clash took place in Shri Krishna Sarnapur village of Khallikote police station area over putting up posters for election campaign. The deceased has been identified as Dilip Kumar Pahana, who was a resident of this village.
BJP workers created ruckus
BJP workers were enraged after the death of their aide and allegedly vandalized vehicles parked near the house of Suryamani Baidya, the BJD candidate from Khallikote assembly seat and sitting MLA. They blocked the road near the police station and demanded the arrest of the MLA and her husband Daitari Bahera. Suryamani Baidya is contesting again from this seat and BJP has fielded former MLA Purna Chandra Sethi as its candidate against her.

The Chief Electoral Officer has expressed concern over this incident and has asked the District Magistrate and Superintendent of Police to immediately restore peace.
