After the hard work of Priyanka Gandhi in Uttar Pradesh, only two seats came in the account of Congress. In Punjab also Congress had to face defeat. Congress got 18 seats here. The party had high hopes from Uttarakhand, Goa and Manipur too, but nothing materialised.
Since then, there has been a demand for appointment of the President in the party and convening of the Congress Working Committee meeting soon. Manish Tewari and Kapil Sibal held a meeting at Ghulam Nabi Azad’s house. In fact, these three leaders were part of the G-23 group which had written to party president Sonia Gandhi and demanded that the party should elect a permanent president.
