Google Wallet Launched in India: Google Wallet app was recently downloaded by some users from Google Play Store in India. After this, the news came out that Google has launched its wallet app in India. However, no official announcement was made by Google regarding the launch of this app. Now Google has broken its silence on the news of the launch of Google Wallet app. The company said that Google Wallet app has not been launched in India yet. Google Wallet is available in many countries apart from India and Singapore.
Not launched yet in India
Google has confirmed that the Google Wallet app has not been officially launched in India yet. However, some users have confirmed on social media platform X that they are able to download this Google app from Google Play Store. Through Google Wallet app, users will be able to make online payments without contact. This app works on NFC (Near Field Communication) feature on the lines of Samsung’s wallet. Apart from this, it is a digital wallet, in which users can add their debit and credit cards and create virtual cards. Apart from this, users can also digitally store gift cards, gym membership, online tickets, flight tickets, railway tickets etc. in Google Wallet app.
In India, the company operates Google Pay service, through which users use services like UPI payment as well as recharge, bill payment etc. In other countries, the company has integrated Google Pay (GPay) into Google Wallet itself. Recently the company had announced the closure of Google Pay (GPay) service in many countries. However, Google Pay service in India and Singapore is working as before.

According to the report of TechCrunch, Google can also launch Google Wallet service along with Google Pay (GPay) in India. However, both these services will be for different users. With Google Wallet app, users can make online payments through their smartphones as well as smartwatches. This app of Google will work on WearOS based smartwatch. You have to download this app in your smartwatch or smartphone and link your debit and credit card. In this app, a virtual pass of the card added by the users is created, using which users can make online payments. According to the report, this service can be launched in Google I/O 2024 held next month.
