Bhopal . The Madhya Pradesh unit of the Congress has decided to publicly celebrate the upcoming Hindu festivals – Ram Navami and Hanuman Jayanti – and the cadre has been asked to organize religious programs with large gatherings, it was announced on Sunday. On Hanuman Jayanti on April 16, Congress is planning to recite ‘Sundarkand’ (a part of Ram Charitra Manas) and ‘Hanuman Chalisa’ as per instructions issued by state Congress President and former Chief Minister Kamal Nath.
The party office on Sunday issued a letter on behalf of Nath directing party leaders and workers to organize religious programs on the occasion of Ram Navami and Hanuman Jayanti on April 10 and April 16 respectively.
In the letter issued by the organization, it has been said that on both these auspicious religious festivals, recitation of Lord Ram Katha, program of Ramlila and worship of Lord Rama should be organized. Apart from this, recitation of Sunderkand and Hanuman Chalisa should be organized on Hanuman Jayanti.
The organization said that Kamal Nath will issue a message on Ram Navami and organize a religious program on Hanuman Jayanti in his home region of Chhindwara.
Reacting to the Congress’ move, leaders of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) termed it as ‘hypocrisy’.
BJP spokesperson Pankaj Chaturvedi said, “Those who considered Lord Ram and Ram Setu as imaginary and opposed the construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya, they will now recite Hanuman Chalisa to attempt political gains. People know their hypocrisy and they should cannot be misled.”
State Congress general secretary media K.K. Mishra advised the BJP not to do politics in the name of Ram and Hanuman and said that every person has the right to worship. The BJP celebrates religious festivals for its political gains, he said. As a national party, it should think twice before making such a statement.
