The Congress on Thursday expelled former Union minister KV Thomas from the party on charges of anti-party activities. The Congress took this action against him, hours after Thomas shared the stage with CPI(M) leader and Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan at a meeting held in connection with the bypolls in Kochi. Kerala Congress chief K Sudhakan has given information about this action against him.
Sudhakaran said that Thomas was expelled from the party with the consent of the All India Congress Committee. Party sources said here that he made the announcement in this regard at Udaipur in Rajasthan where the three-day ‘Chintan Shivir’ of the Congress is starting from Friday.
At a Left party event on Thursday, Thomas said he was in favor of development. During this, he praised CM Vijayan fiercely. Bypolls in Thrikkakara are to be held on May 31. The Congress leader said that Vijayan has brought development to Kerala. “I have said in the party (Congress) that we should support K-Rail. The project should not be opposed just because Vijayan has proposed it.
The senior Congress leader further said, ‘I have always been with development. I have no hesitation in saying that I am with Vijayan, the leader of development. It has been proved in recent years that a powerful leader like Vijayan can overcome all odds and go ahead.
At the same time, Sudhakaran says that Thomas’s exit will not affect the prospects of Congress in Thrikkakara. “We have conducted a survey of the area, in which it has been found that Congress will not lose any vote due to the action taken against them,” he said.
