New Delhi. Tomorrow i.e. Monday is important for Congress. After 22 years, on Monday, voting will be held in the Congress to choose the new national president. Two big names are in the fray for this position. Mallikarjun Kharge and Shashi Tharoor have a fight. Kharge was the Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha before contesting this election. At the same time, Shashi Tharoor is a Lok Sabha MP. Both the leaders are expressing confidence that victory will be theirs. Shashi Tharoor and Kharge have gone to different states and met Congress leaders. Mallikarjun Kharge says the party can be saved by running it the old fashioned way. At the same time, Tharoor is advocating to bring the youth forward for the betterment of the party.
Voting for the post of Congress President will be held from 10 am in the State Congress Offices (PCCs) in all the states of the country including Delhi. Votes can be cast till 4 pm. Votes will be held at 38 places including Delhi. The entire process of voting will be secret. There are about 9000 voters from all over the country in these elections. Now it remains to be seen how many of these voters vote in favor of Kharge and how many want to see Tharoor as the next president. The counting of votes will be done on October 19.
Shashi Tharoor had recently alleged that most of the PCC leaders do not want to meet him. At the same time, Tharoor had also objected to the video released by Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot in favor of Kharge and demanded action. However, election officer and senior Congress leader Madhusudan Mistry has not said anything on this yet. The Gandhi family has said that they will not give unilateral support to anyone, but everyone knows that Kharge is close to this family. At the same time, Shashi Tharoor has been among the 23 leaders who raised the displeasure of the Gandhi family by questioning the methods in the Congress. However, the battlefield has been set for the post of President. Warriors compete against each other in the field. Just waiting for the voting and then counting.
