New Delhi. So far 5 phases of voting have taken place in the Lok Sabha elections 2024. Before the sixth phase of voting to be held on coming Saturday, the Election Commission has directed BJP and its star campaigners to refrain from campaigning on religious and communal lines. At the same time, the Congress Party was clearly told to speak with caution before making any comments on the Indian Army. After the last phase of voting in the country on June 1, the results of the elections are to be declared on June 4.
In the present case, a complaint was filed by the Congress party in the Election Commission against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and senior leaders of his party. It was said that the Bharatiya Janata Party is hurting religious sentiments to win the elections. At the same time, the Bharatiya Janata Party alleged that statements were made by the Congress party during the election campaign against the army, which should be stopped immediately. The Commission has now issued strict instructions to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and BJP President JP Nadda to follow the election code of conduct.
