The meeting was attended by former Punjab state president Sunil Jakhar and Kerala Congress leader and former Union minister KV. Big action can be taken against Thomas. The meeting of the Central Disciplinary Committee will be held in the Congress Warroom at around 11:30 am. Two weeks ago, the Congress Party called a meeting of the Disciplinary Committee. Sunil Jakhar and K.V. Thomas’ show cause notice was given. Both the leaders were asked to place their views before the party’s disciplinary committee within a week.
Thomas sent his reply to the party’s disciplinary committee, but Sunil Jakhar did not respond. Now the meeting of the disciplinary committee on the issue of both the leaders will be held on Tuesday.
In fact, Punjab Congress in-charge Harish Chaudhary had written a letter to Congress President Sonia Gandhi demanding disciplinary action against Sunil Jakhar. Harish Chaudhary has written in his letter that the statement of Sunil Jakhar caused loss to the party in Punjab and he continued to make rhetoric against the party. Along with this, former Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi met Rahul Gandhi and complained about Sunil Jakhar. Sunil Jakhar, however, clarified that his statement was taken out of context.
On the other hand, Kerala Congress President K. Sudhakaran had also written a letter to Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi, demanding disciplinary action against Thomas. He said that Thomas attended the CPI(M) program in Kannur by breaking party lines even though he was asked by the Congress not to attend the CPI(M) programme.
In Kerala, the CPI(M) had invited KV Thomas and Shashi Tharoor to its seminar. Tharoor followed the party’s instructions, but Thomas had reached the CPI(M) seminar, whose reply was sent by Thomas to the party’s disciplinary committee.
