Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said on Monday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi should also bring back the old pension scheme (OPS). He said that this would benefit the central employees across the country. Gehlot said that PM Modi and other states will have to restore the old pension scheme. They have no other option. It is worth noting that after the restoration of old pension by Rajasthan, the Chhattisgarh government has also done the same.
Prime Minister has requested
Gehlot made several announcements in his address after the budget was passed by voice vote in the assembly today. He said that from April 1, 2022, 10 percent deduction under the new pension scheme will also be stopped. He said that the amount of earlier deduction will be given to the government employees at the time of retirement by adding it to the interest in GPF. He accused the BJP leaders that since these people are against the old pension scheme, they are spreading misconceptions about its implementation. Gehlot said that I have requested the Prime Minister to re-implement OPS so that the central government employees can get its benefit. He said that the decision was taken on humanitarian grounds. The response from the people on the re-implementation of OPS is extremely encouraging.

Gehlot assured the House that the budget would be fully implemented at the ground level. There is no need to doubt about this. He said that BJP is well-versed in exaggerating even the slightest work. On the other hand we keep working but never market it. Apart from this, the Chief Minister sought cooperation from the BJP leaders of the state in putting pressure on the Center regarding the Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project. He said that this was a project of the previous BJP government and it would solve the problem of water in 13 districts of eastern Rajasthan.

The Chief Minister of Rajasthan also announced pension schemes for sportspersons. Under this, after turning 40, every player will be given a monthly pension of 20 thousand rupees. The rules regarding its eligibility will be issued separately. He said that a policy would also be made to open medical colleges in the private sector for more opportunities in medical studies. According to another major announcement, the Janta Clinic running in the state will run on government expenditure. 200 crore has been proposed for this. 100 new public clinics will also be opened in the next financial year.
Leader of the opposition told that far from reality
The Chief Minister also announced the creation of a Food Security and Control Commissionerate. It will tackle the problems of malnutrition in the state. At the same time, provision has also been made to provide jobs on contract in Gram Panchayats to the winners in rural Olympics. Apart from this, it has also been said to create a cadre of women sub-inspectors. On the other hand, speaking about the bill, Leader of Opposition Gulab Chand Kataria said that although this budget may sound good to read and listen, but it is confusing and far from reality. The government will not be able to take these announcements off the ground. Already the state is in deficit of Rs 5.31 lakh crore.
