Let us tell you that in view of the shortcomings in Corona, the resumption of service of cooked food was started from December 21 itself, about 30% and ‘80% by January 22’. The remaining 20% will be restored by 14 February 2022. As per the guidelines received from Railway Board, the resumption of cooked food has been done with utmost precautions keeping in mind the health of the passengers. Such services have been restored in the form of cooked meals in about 428 trains.
It is worth noting that IRCTC i.e. Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Limited which is a Public Sector Undertaking of the Ministry of Railways, and provides premium services to the passengers of Indian Railways. Now IRCTC is all set to resume the services of cooked food in trains for the convenience of passengers after the easing of Corona lockdown restrictions across the country. So far, cooked food has been restored in 80 percent of the vehicles, which will now be fully implemented. Several lakh thali food is fed to the passengers a day. However IRCTC is already serving cooked food in 428 trains.
