The crisis of corona infection is once again in the country. In the third wave of Corona, the graph of infected daily is crossing one and a half lakhs for a few days. In such a situation, the central and state government are worried about the treatment of fast growing Omicron and COVID infection patients. In such a situation, now the Indian Council of Medical Research has decided to remove Molnupiravir from the clinical management protocol, taking an important decision regarding Molnupirvir, which was recently approved as a drug for COVID.
Let us tell you that according to the information of Times of India, the National Corona Task Force of the Indian Council of Medical Research has removed Molnupiravir from the list of medicines useful for COVID. This means that Molnupiravir is now out of the list of drugs prescribed for corona treatment. The English newspaper has given this information quoting official sources. In fact, in a meeting of the National Corona Tasker Force of the Indian Council of Medical Research on Monday, the experts of the force discussed the health concerns related to Molnupiravir. After a long discussion, it has been decided to remove Molnupiravir from the clinical management protocol.
It is worth noting that the Drug Regulator General of India had approved the antiviral drug and Molnupiravir capable of inhibiting SARS-CoV-2 by viral mutagenesis on December 28 itself for emergency use of the anti-corona pill. The main reason behind the removal of this drug from the clinical management protocol is the harm caused by its use. Molanupiravir can affect rapidly dividing cells in humans. It can damage cells of reproductive organs in men, fetuses in pregnant women, bone in young adults and children. However, the sale of Molnupiravir will not be stopped even after it is removed from the protocol prescribed for corona treatment by ICMR. This will be available in consultation with the doctors.
