Corona’s new sub-variant XE has been confirmed in a woman in Mumbai. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) had claimed this on Wednesday. However, sources close to the Union Health Ministry say that the genome sequencing of the patient’s sample does not confirm the XE variant.
On Wednesday evening, a shocking news came out from Mumbai. The BMC had claimed that a new sub-variant XE of the corona has been confirmed in a 50-year-old woman who is showing no symptoms of corona. The corona infected woman has applied both doses of the vaccine. The Union Health Ministry has become alert after BMC’s claim. However, health ministry sources have denied the presence of the XE variant in the patient’s sample.
According to India Today, sources say that “FastQ files with respect to the sample, which is being called the ‘XE’ variant, was analyzed by genomic experts from INSACOG, who inferred that the genomic constitution of this variant” XE’ variant does not belong to the genomic picture.
What does BMC have to say
According to BMC, this is the first case of Corona’s new sub-variant XE in the city. But the sample will be sent to the National Institute of Biomedical Genomics (NIBMG) for further analysis to confirm the new variant.
