The Odisha government led by Naveen Patnaik has issued corona guidelines for March. It has been said in these guidelines that it will be applicable from 5 am on March 1 to 5 in the morning of March 31. The order issued by the Chief Secretary regarding Mahashivratri, Holi, Dolapurnima states that the local authorities will ensure proper adherence to the COVID-19 protocol. There is a need to strictly follow the protocol of COVID-19 to prevent the spread of corona infection.
It has been said in this order that Holi and its related programs will not be celebrated in public places throughout the state. People can celebrate Holi with their family members in their homes. Holi will not be played in any public place including roads.
Actually, according to tradition, during Dola Purnima, people take out a procession carrying the idols of Radha and Krishna for worship, after which Holi is celebrated. In view of this, it has been said in the order regarding Dola Purnima that during this time people will have to follow the rules like social distancing, use of face masks and washing hands. The government has allowed religious rituals during this period, but the corona protocol will have to be strictly followed.
The order said that the district authorities can decide the number of participants in these meetings. Keeping in view the local circumstances, the District Magistrate/Municipal Commissioner may impose appropriate restrictions on the entry of devotees into temples and religious places.
