new Delhi. India reported 1,938 fresh Covid cases in a 24-hour period, marginally higher than the previous day’s tally of 1,778. The Union Health Ministry said on Thursday morning that 67 deaths were also recorded in the same period, taking the total number of deaths to 5,16,672.
Meanwhile, following a continuous downward trend, India’s active figure on Thursday came down to 22,427, which is 0.05 per cent of the total number of positive cases in the country.
A total of 2,531 patients have been cured in the last 24 hours and the total number of patients who have been cured since the beginning of the epidemic is 4,24,75,588. As a result, India’s recovery rate is 98.75 percent.
Also, a total of 6,61,954 tests were conducted across the country in the same period. India has conducted over 78.49 crore cumulative tests so far.
Currently, the weekly positivity rate in the country is 0.35 percent and the daily positivity rate is also reported to be 0.29 percent.
On the vaccination front, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has crossed 182.23 crore as of 7 am on Thursday, as per provisional reports. This has been achieved through 2,15,72,370 sessions.
The ministry said that since the launch of the vaccination campaign in the age group of 12 to 14, more than 72 lakh adolescents have been given the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
According to the Health Ministry, more than 16.69 crore remaining and unused COVID vaccine doses are still available with the states and union territories as of Thursday morning.
