New Delhi. The rhetoric of Congress party leaders is becoming a problem for them. Recently, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge said such things to Prime Minister Modi regarding his faith in Buddhism that this time Kharge has come under attack not from BJP but from the President of Buddhist Association. Indian Buddhist Association President Bhante Sangpriya Rahul himself has hit back at Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge for questioning PM Modi’s faith in Buddhism. The President of the Buddhist Association has termed Mallikarjun Kharge’s remarks as condemnable.

Bhante Sangpriya Rahul said that in the year 2014, PM Narendra Modi had celebrated the birthday of Lord Buddha at Talkatora Stadium in Delhi. This is the first time after independence that a Prime Minister has celebrated the birthday of Lord Buddha. While talking about PM Modi, Bhante Sanghpriya Rahul said that when he was the Chief Minister of Gujarat, he had installed a statue of Buddha inside the Assembly and also at the Chief Minister’s residence. I want to ask Mallikarjun Kharge that when Manmohan Singh was in power, why did this not happen? Have you not paid attention to Buddha? Why was Buddha’s festival not celebrated during the tenure of your government?
Let us tell you that Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, during an interview recently, had criticized Prime Minister Modi by raising questions on Buddhism. Kharge had said that Buddha is considered the ninth incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Kharge had said that there is a law in Uttarakhand that if someone wants to convert to Buddhism, he will have to go to the District Magistrate. Kharge said that Buddhism was established in India but PM Modi does not believe in it.
