New Delhi: On one hand, BJP has not yet taken any decision regarding the ticket of MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh for Kaiserganj seat, while on the other hand, the MP has received a big blow from the court. Rouse Avenue Court has rejected an application of BJP leader Brij Bhushan. The MP had filed an application in the court seeking further investigation and production of call detail records of a coach. Now this matter will be heard on May 7.
Charges will be decided on May 7
Earlier, MP Brij Bhushan had claimed in the court that he was not in Delhi at the time of the incident on 7 September 2022, hence these allegations should be re-investigated. He also asked for CDR copy of this case. After these answers, the court had reserved its decision till 26th April. Today, in the same case, Rouse Avenue Court has rejected the application of MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh and the court has come forward to pronounce order on ‘framing of charges’ in the case related to the allegations of sexual harassment made by 6 female wrestlers against Brij Bhushan Singh. The date has been fixed for May 7, 2024.
What was the matter?
Please note that Delhi Police had filed a charge sheet against Brij Bhushan in June 2023. The police, in its report to the court on June 15, 2023, had requested that the case related to the minor wrestler be quashed and POCSO removed as his father had claimed during investigation that he had sexually assaulted her to take revenge on the MP. False allegations of harassment were made. However, investigation is still going on in this matter related to wrestlers. But the police had retained the charges of sexual harassment and stalking against him in a separate case registered on the basis of the complaint of six female wrestlers.
The police had recommended quashing the complaint related to the minor wrestler saying that “no concrete evidence has been found.” Meanwhile, MP Brij Bhushan Singh also vehemently denied all the allegations leveled against him.
