Jaipur: The Special Operations Group in Rajasthan has arrested two women criminals from Uganda and Gambia. Both the women hacked the Bank of Baroda server through Raspberry Pi device and siphoned off Rs 32 lakh from the ATM. ATS and Jaipur SOG with the help of cyber cell have arrested Laura Keith and Nan Tongo Alexander, residents of Zambia and Uganda. Now these two women are being questioned by a team led by SOG Inspector Umed Singh.
After coming to Delhi from abroad, she used to go to Jaipur, Kota and Udaipur and withdraw money in different cities. They kept changing their places so that their differences would not open up. In this way, this is the first case of ATM hacking in the country. Ashok Rathore, ADG of Special Operations Group said that the women had come to Jaipur on July 14 and had roamed in different areas till July to withdraw Rs 32 lakh. The server was easily hacked due to a technical fault in the bank, but there was no alert. Both the women also changed their disguise every day so that they could not be identified by the CCTV camera installed in the ATM.
Let’s say that the Raspberry Pi device that hacked the server is like a small computer and motherboard. It is programmed to give commands. Both the women put the device in the ATM and removed it from the main server via Wi-Fi and then started withdrawing money by setting up the ATM’s local server. The ATM was working at the behest of these women by becoming a local server. These women had already found out which banks in the country were working on the old manual setting system and were targeting ATMs of the same banks. Police arrested both of them and started further action.
