Sahitya Akademi Award News: Sahitya Akademi has announced its Bhasha Samman. Renowned critic, poet and story writer Dr. Purushottam Agrawal has been selected for this year’s Bhasha Samman to be given for different parts of the country.
In the meeting of the Executive Board of Sahitya Akademi held at Statue of Unity in Kevadia, Gujarat, Dr. Purushottam Agarwal was approved for Sahitya Akademi Bhasha Samman for his outstanding contribution to classic and medieval literature from the northern region for the year 2021. This decision was taken in the meeting chaired by Sahitya Akademi President Madhav Kaushik.
Punjabi litterateur Prof. Avtar Singh has been selected for the Sahitya Akademi Bhasha Samman for the northern region for the year 2023, and Dr. KG Paulose for the southern region. Sahitya Akademi Bhasha Samman was announced for three writers Renthlei Lalravana, Rozama Chawngthu and Pandit Durgacharan Shukla for the promotion of non-recognized languages Mizo and Bundeli.

Purushottam Agarwal, a scholar of Hindi, Khari Boli, Braj Bhasha, Awadhi, Bundeli, English, Urdu and Bengali languages, has made an outstanding contribution in the field of classic and medieval literature. Akath Kahani Prem Ki: Kabir Ki Kavita Aur Unka Samay, Padmavat: Ek Mahakavyatmak Prem Katha, Hindi Sarai, Nakohas and Teesra Rukh are his popular works.
