Mumbai Following the loudspeaker controversy in Maharashtra and MNS chief Raj Thackeray’s ultimatum, the imams of 26 mosques in Mumbai have decided that morning azaan will not be given over loudspeakers as ordered by the Supreme Court. The imam of these mosques in south Mumbai took this decision after a meeting on Wednesday night. From Thursday i.e. this morning, he also started implementing it. These include the famous Minara Masjid of Mumbai. Earlier, MNS Chief Raj Thackeray had said that if loudspeakers are used in mosques from May 4, his workers will recite Hanuman Chalisa with loudspeakers outside the mosques.
Raj Thackeray had issued a statement asking all the Hindus of the country to play Hanuman Chalisa on the loudspeaker wherever Ajan is given on the loudspeaker. Let the Muslims also be aware of the problem people have with loudspeakers. After such statements of Raj Thackeray, the DG of Maharashtra Police had directed all the police stations to follow the guidelines of the Supreme Court on loudspeakers. The Supreme Court has banned the use of loudspeakers from 10 pm to 6 am.
Raj Thackeray gave the example of UP while keeping his point. Raj had praised UP CM Yogi Adityanath and said that in view of the way loudspeakers were removed from religious places in UP, he had talked about sitting in Maharashtra’s government. Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut had also targeted Raj Thackeray’s statements and retaliated by calling him Owaisi of Hindus.
