new Delhi. The Delhi High Court on Tuesday dismissed a petition seeking a probe against the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and its national convener Arvind Kejriwal, alleging that they have links with a banned Khalistani outfit called Sikhs for Justice (SFJ). A division bench of Acting Chief Justice Vipin Sanghi and Justice Navin Chawla dismissed the Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by Congress leader Jagdish Sharma, terming it “totally frivolous”.
Also asked not to give such arguments in future. Referring to former Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, who made similar allegations, the petition referred to the statement of AAP’s founding member Kumar Vishwas a few days before the elections.
The petition also alleged that the AAP was funded by separatist groups.
Recently, a controversy erupted after Kumar Vishwas allegedly talked about cooperation between Kejriwal and Khalistani separatists in an interview.
In a video clip going viral, Vishwas alleged that Arvind Kejriwal wants to become the Chief Minister of Punjab without naming any independent Khalistan PM.
AAP had termed the video as false, misleading and the handiwork of rival political parties trailing in the assembly elections in Punjab.
A Delhi-based lawyer had also lodged a complaint against Chief Minister Kejriwal with Home Minister Amit Shah, National Investigation Agency and Delhi Police regarding Kumar Vishwas’s statement.
A similar complaint by Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit has also been filed against Kejriwal at a police station in Punjab’s Mohali for his alleged “collaboration with Khalistani separatists”.
