In this case, after 14 years, the consumer court, giving a verdict in favor of the passenger, has found the Railways guilty of deficiency in service.
The consumer court has ordered not only compensation for the inconvenience caused to the passenger due to railway officials, but also the cost of litigation.
A bench of District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission chairperson Monika Srivastava, members Rashmi Bandal and Rajendra Dhar gave this decision while disposing of the complaint of Faridabad resident Indranath Jha.
The bench has said that people book train tickets in advance so that they can travel comfortably, but in the present case, despite booking a confirmed reserved ticket a month in advance, the train journey of the complainant was not only full of physical, mental troubles, but also He also faced abusive treatment. In its recently passed judgment, the bench said that it is clear from the facts that the respondent Railway is guilty of negligence and deficiency in service.
Complainant Indranath Jha had booked berth 69 confirmed reserved ticket in S-4 in Freedom Fighter Express on January 3, 2008, one and a half months in advance to come from Darbhanga to Delhi on 19 February 2008, but he did not get the seat.
