Dehradun. Travelers wishing to travel to Chardham should book hotels and guest houses from now onwards, as they may have to wait a long time for it in the coming time. The Chardham Yatra has not even started yet, but all the vehicles on the Yatra route are full. Even most of the guest houses of GMVN have been booked. Tourists are being given 15 days time to book vehicles. The doors of Gangotri-Yamunotri will open on May 3, Kedarnath on May 6 and Badrinath on May 8, while the doors of Hemkund Sahib will open on May 22.
Suryaprakash Kothari, staff leader of GMVN said, “GMVN has 25 guest houses on the Chardham Yatra route, which are full by May. The schedule package for Chardham tour includes a nine-day traveling package of Rs 31,500 (parking plus 5% GST separately). In this, the drivers will take all the four Dhams. Bus tours will continue to run separately. Innova tours are full. Three guest houses at Barkot in Yamunotri Valley, Hanuman Chatti, Phoolchatti, Janki Chatti, Barkot, Uttarkashi on Gangotri route , Maneri, Harshil, two guest house bungalows in Gangotri, Rudraprayag on Kedarnath route, Guptkashi, Rampur, Sonprayag, Gaurikund, Kedarnath, Swargarohini, Karnprayag on Badrinath route, Pipalkoti, Joshimath, guest houses at Badrinath have been completed.
The operator of Garhwal Taxi Service, T.P. Singh said, “We do not have a single vehicle available for Chardham till May. The nine-day fare for Innova is Rs 49,500. Parking and 5 per cent GST will also have to be paid separately. Bookings for almost all routes are full.” Minimum three days four seater vehicle fare in Ek Dham has been fixed at Rs 10,500. Traveling from Delhi, Dehradun, Haridwar. Innova is available for three days at Rs 16,500. Most of the places bookings are full, so 10 to 15 Bookings must be made days in advance.”
Kothari said, “GMVN has done more than 60 million advance booking of guest houses. Advance booking is going on on many other routes also. At present we have full occupancy till June. Now we are booking for September-October. The crisis that came due to COVID has been overcome to a large extent. The way people are coming in large numbers, it is expected that all records will be broken.”
At the same time, Cabinet Minister Satpal Maharaj said, “Due to Corona, the tourism sector has been affected a lot in the last two and a half years. The booking of vehicles is also very good, which has 100 occupancy. Chardham is our lifeline. It runs the chulha-chowka of lakhs of our families.”
