Tharoor on Sunday said that India-Russia relations did not change despite the change in geopolitical situation. He said that these ties have taken their roots centuries back and have withstood the test of time.

Tharoor was quoted in the statement as saying that India-Russia relations are unique. Despite changes in geopolitical circumstances, there was no change in India-Russia relations. These relationships have stood the test of time.
“After the break-up of the Soviet Union, we thought that our friendly relations would decline. But as a long-time friend, Russia continues to support our economic development and security. Our Special Strategic Partnership remains important, despite new allies between nations.
The Honorary Consul General of the Russian Federation Ratish C Nair issued a statement regarding this event. Nair is currently also the Director of the Russian House in Thiruvananthapuram. He said that a series of seminars, exhibitions, discussions and competitions would be organized as part of the 10-month long celebrations.
