The ruling DMK (DMK) in Tamil Nadu on Wednesday announced its list of candidates for the Lok Sabha elections. DMK president and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K., who leads the India Alliance in the state. Stalin has called upon the cadre to work hard to win all the 39 seats in the state. DMK is contesting on 21 seats. Congress has been given 9 seats while VCK, CPI(M) and CPI have been given two seats each. Apart from this, one seat each has been allotted to MDMK, IUML and KMDK.
DMK has taken Arani, Tiruchi and Theni seats from Congress after swapping Cuddalore, Tirunelveli and Mayiladuthurai seats. The party will also contest from Coimbatore instead of the Dindigul seat, where the sitting MP is from the CPI(M). The DMK-led Secular Progressive Alliance had won 38 of the 39 seats in 2019.
