New Delhi. Election campaigns and movies may have little in common. But when bitter political rivals are at stake in a big election, they often use a Bollywood twist to attack their opponents. One such interesting war of words was witnessed between Prime Minister Modi and Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday during the Lok Sabha election campaign in Uttar Pradesh. PM Modi took a dig at the alliance of Akhilesh Yadav and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and mocked their coming together for the second time. PM Modi said in an election rally in Basti that “I am surprised by the repeated release of the SP and Congress’ flop film ‘Do Shehzade’.”
Prime Minister Modi was referring to the alliance of the two parties in the 2017 Uttar Pradesh assembly elections. Akhilesh and Rahul had then joined hands and ran a spirited campaign under the banner of ‘UP ke ladke’. However, the alliance failed and the BJP came to power in the state. After this, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh reacted to the PM’s sarcasm and said that a new film will be released on June 4. Akhilesh Yadav said in an election rally that with every round of voting, the ‘India’ alliance is moving forward. A new film will be released on June 4 which the country will watch with enthusiasm.
‘The meaning of day dreaming…’
Samajwadi Party chief has claimed regarding the results of the ongoing Lok Sabha elections that ‘India’ alliance will win 79 out of 80 seats in Uttar Pradesh. On this, Prime Minister Modi took a dig at Akhilesh Yadav’s claims and said that now he understood what day dreaming means. Countering Akhilesh and Rahul’s claims of victory, PM Modi said that both the ‘princes’ of Congress and SP are spreading rumors that they will win 79 seats in UP. Earlier I used to hear that people used to daydream, but now I understand what daydreaming means. The people of UP will wake them up on June 4 and then they will blame the Electronic Voting Machine (EVM).
Will you accept Rahul Gandhi as PM? Why did Kejriwal say, I have no intention of becoming Prime Minister?
PM Modi’s taunt
PM Modi also took a dig at the huge crowd seen in the recent rallies of SP and Congress in UP and said, ‘I was told that people of SP and Congress give contracts to bring people to their rallies. People are reaching the stage because they have not paid. The Prime Minister was referring to the joint rally of Akhilesh and Rahul in Phulpur. When a huge crowd gathered near the stage, both the leaders had to leave without addressing the gathering.
