After the return of Ranji Trophy, now the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has agreed to organize other domestic tournaments as well. Board Secretary Jay Shah informed on Friday (February 25) that the Senior National T20 for Women and National Under-25 Tournament (Red Ball) for CK Nayudu will be reinstated. It will be held between March and May.
The Ranji Trophy season could not be held in January due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It started in the second week of February. The domestic tournament was under threat due to the third wave of Corona. Due to the slowing down of Corona, now all the tournaments are being started gradually. Jay Shah has also written a letter to many state associations regarding this.
Shah wrote in his letter, “We have successfully completed the first round of Ranji Trophy. We will now organize Senior Women’s T20 Trophy and Col CK Nayudu Trophy 2021-22 during March to May months. The board will soon inform about the draw and safety rules of the tournament.
The tournament will be organized during the IPL itself. This will benefit the country’s umpires and scorers. They rely only on domestic and age-group tournaments. However, the board has not issued the notification regarding the quarterfinals of the Cooch Behar Trophy. It is expected to be played in April. By that time the annual examination of most of the boys would be over.
