A spokesperson of the National Investigation Agency said that Lakhbir Singh Rode alias Baba, ISYF chief of Moga (Punjab) hiding in Pakistan and his four arrested associates Harmesh Singh alias Kali resident of Kilche village (Firozepur), Darvesh Singh alias Shinda, resident of Banke Wale slum, Jalandhar Chargesheet has been filed against Gurmukh Singh of New Hardyal Nagar and Gagandeep Singh of Guru Nanakpura (Phagwara-Kapurthala).
The NIA said that the case was initially registered on August 25, 2021 at Mamdot police station in Ferozepur. Later on 6 November 2021, the agency was re-registered under various sections of Arms Act, Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, Explosives Act and Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
The spokesman said that the investigation revealed that the charge-sheeted accused had smuggled illegal consignments of arms, ammunition, explosives and narcotics from across the Indo-Pak border to carry out terrorist activities in India. The NIA said that this illegal consignment was sent by Rode and his associates from Pakistan through drones.
The spokesperson said that the consignment was received by the co-accused and given to other accused involved in the conspiracy to carry out the blasts activities in India. Incriminating evidence has been found against all the charge-sheeted accused. The NIA said that so far five accused have been arrested in this case, while Rode is absconding. Further investigation is on in the matter.
