India’s star female tennis player Sania Mirza and Czech Republic partner Lucy Radeka have reached the semi-finals of the women’s doubles of the Dubai Tennis Championships. Sania and Lucy defeated Japan’s Shuko Oyama and Serbia’s Alexandra Krunich 7-5, 6-3 in straight sets in the match played on Thursday.
Sania and Radeka got wild card entry in this tournament. However, so far the performance of both has been tremendous. The Dubai Tennis Championships is a WTA 500 tournament. In the semi-finals, the pair of Sania and Radeki are likely to face top seeds Ana Shibahara of Japan and Shuai Zhang of China.
The pair of Anna and Shuai will take on Lyudmila Kichenok of Ukraine and Jelena Ostapenko of Latvia in the second semi-final. Sania has already won the title of Dubai Tennis Championships. She won the women’s doubles title in 2013 with Bethany Mattek-Sands of USA.
