New Delhi. The Election Commission has changed the date of election for Anantnag-Rajouri Lok Sabha seat of Jammu and Kashmir. According to the pre-determined schedule, voting was to be held here on May 7 under the third phase. Now voting will take place here on May 25 during the sixth phase of elections. The Election Commission has taken this decision after looking at the demand of many political parties to extend the election dates and the ground situation.
A press release issued by the Election Commission said, ‘After considering the report of the Union Territory Administration as well as analyzing the prevailing ground situation in the said constituency, under Section 56 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, It has been decided to modify the date of voting in the said parliamentary constituency.

The Election Commission said, ‘Political parties had cited various natural constraints of logistics, communication and connectivity which hinder election campaigning. He said that such conditions amount to lack of fair opportunities for the candidates contesting the elections in the said parliamentary constituency, which can affect the election process.
Two phases of voting have taken place under the Lok Sabha elections 2024. Now the third phase of elections is to be held on 7th May. There are a total of five Lok Sabha seats in Jammu Kashmir Union Territory. Keeping security in mind, voting is being conducted on these seats in different phases. After voting in a total of seven phases, the election results will be revealed on June 4.
