Elections for 7 seats of Karnataka Legislative Council on June 3

Bangalore. The Karnataka State Election Commission on Tuesday announced that voting for seven seats in the state’s Legislative Council will be held on June 3. A notification in this regard will be issued on May 17 and the last date for submission of applications has been fixed as May 24.

BJP MLCs Laxman Sangappa Savadi and Lahar Singh, Congress MLCs Ramappa Timmapur, Veena Achaiya and Allam Veerbhadrappa, JD(S) MLCs H.M. Ramesh Gowda and K.V. Narayanaswamy is retiring on June 14.

Polling will be held between 9 am to 4 pm and the counting of votes will be completed on the same day.

May 27 is the last day for withdrawal of nominations.

Looking at the number of MLAs in the legislature, experts say the state’s ruling BJP will further strengthen its presence in the council.

The party is expected to get four, Congress two and JD(S) one.
