Due to increasing heat and coal crisis, people in many states of the country are facing power cuts. If we look at the government data, the gap between demand and supply has increased almost 13 times in the last one month. Due to this reason the power shortage is not being met even after record supply. In view of the situation, the chairman of Coal India has written a letter to his employees, instructing them to increase the coal supply at any cost.
little relief from two days
According to data from the National Load Despatch Centre, there was a shortfall of 810 MW between the highest demand and supply of electricity in the country on April 1. But, in the last week of the month, this shortfall increased to 10778 MW i.e. 10.77 GW. However, there was some narrowing in the demand-supply gap on Saturday. The gap between demand and supply of electricity during peak hours on Saturday was 5.12 GW. For this reason, in some states the deduction has come down slightly.
record supply
The power supply in the country reached a record level last week. According to the government, on April 29, 207.11 GW of electricity was supplied as against 201.65 GW on Tuesday. Energy sector experts believe that the demand for electricity has increased due to increase in heat and industrial production. In such a situation, if the temperature rises, then the demand will increase again. So the government will have to ensure the supply of coal to the thermal power plants as the power demand in May may reach 215-220 GW. This will further aggravate the crisis.
increase coal supply
Coal India Limited Chairman and Managing Director Pramod Aggarwal has written a letter to the employees saying that our priority is that the thermal power plant should have sufficient stock of domestic fuel amid the shortage of electricity. Our goal should be to ensure energy at the lowest cost. Take inspiration from the performance of the last financial year and exceed the production and off-take target of 700 million tonnes.
