Saharanpur. Five miscreants were arrested in an encounter between police and miscreants in Saharanpur district of Uttar Pradesh on Thursday night. The five miscreants belong to the Dhyan Gujjar gang of Sambhal. The police officer gave this information on Friday. The accused have been identified as Sumit Malik, Ashok Khari, Kapil Yogendra.
Superintendent of Police (SSP) Saharanpur Akash Tomar said that on Thursday night, information was received that some miscreants in Ertiga and WagonR cars were about to commit a major robbery. On information, Sadar Bazar police station in-charge Harendra Singh, SOG in-charge Jaiveer and surveillance team chased both the vehicles of the miscreants. Police surrounded the miscreants behind New Housing Development Colony of Sadar police station area.
The miscreants started firing on the police team. Sadar Bazar police station in-charge Harendra Singh and chief constable Amardeep from SOG were injured due to the sudden firing by miscreants.
During the interrogation of the police, the miscreants have confessed that on April 3, they had robbed the place of paint trader Prithvipal Singh, resident of Ahmedbagh Colony, in broad daylight. Police have recovered three lakh cash, two cars from the miscreants.
