New Delhi. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has said that he has no ‘tension or worry’ about going back to Tihar Jail. He described going to jail as part of his ‘struggle’ to save the country. Kejriwal’s interim bail will end on June 1. The Supreme Court had on May 10 granted interim bail to Kejriwal, arrested by the ED in a money laundering case related to the alleged excise policy, to campaign for the ongoing Lok Sabha elections. Kejriwal said in an interview to ‘PTI Video’ that during his stay in jail for about a month before getting interim bail, he read ‘Gita’ twice in Tihar jail. He claimed that this has changed his perspective.
When asked about being sent back to Tihar Jail, he said, “I have no tension or worry. If I have to go back, I will go back… I consider it a part of my struggle to save the country.” Recalling the time spent in jail, Kejriwal said that he read three-four books including ‘Gita’, ‘Ramayana’ and the political history of the country. He also alleged that he was monitored 24 hours a day through CCTV cameras installed in the jail, which were monitored by 13 jail officials as well as the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).
Arvind Kejriwal said, ‘Just imagine that your every activity is being monitored 24 hours a day. This will make life difficult. There was no time for me to relax.’ On the issue of electoral bonds, the AAP convenor said that if the opposition alliance ‘India’ comes to power, an inquiry will be ordered into the ‘biggest scam’ of independent India. On BJP’s allegations of AAP not being able to stop Khalistani elements in Punjab and receiving foreign funds, Kejriwal said that these allegations are ‘ridiculous’.
‘If Modi was here in 1971, Kartarpur Sahib would have been built…’, PM lashes out at opposition in Patiala, says- he would have released the soldiers only after that
He said that the alleged liquor scam is like the Khalistan allegation. He said that ‘I laugh at all these allegations.’ He said that even if he is hanged, AAP will not end. He said that ‘I say hang Kejriwal if you think that hanging him will end the Aam Aadmi Party. AAP is not a party, it is a thought. One Kejriwal will die, hundreds more will be born.’ On the question of making AAP an accused in the excise policy case, Kejriwal claimed that soon all other opposition parties will be made accused in various cases and their accounts will be frozen.
