Mumbai. Big news is coming from the country’s financial capital Mumbai. Work is going on on a water supply project in the Versova area of the metropolis. Under this, digging was being done with a JCB, when a big accident happened. During the digging of the tunnel, the soil caved in. The JCB operator also got caught in it and got buried under the debris of the soil. Even after 19 days of the accident, the JCB operator has not been traced yet. Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has also visited the spot.
In fact, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde visited the site 19 days after a 38-year-old excavator machine operator got trapped in the debris during tunnel shaft digging work for the Surya water supply project going on along the Versova Bridge in Vasai. The incident is reported to have happened on the night of May 29. The operator has been identified as Rakesh Yadav (38). He was lowering the machine into the shaft to remove material during the tunneling process to connect the underground pipeline to the Thane Creek.
They were celebrating a picnic by spreading a mat on the road, a JCB came from behind, the mat was covered in dust, they looked like crying!

The soil slid and the wall structure collapsed as the machine fell down the shaft along with the operator. A portable office container also fell down during the excavation. The JCB operator along with the driver were completely buried under the debris. Police and fire brigade were alerted after the incident. Teams of Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) reached the spot and started rescue operations.
