Exit Polls: The last round of voting in the assembly elections in five states is about to conclude today. You all would be curious to know who will form the government in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Goa and Manipur? Where was the voting?
Voting began in different phases in five states, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Goa and Manipur, from February 10 last month. Voting in UP was held in seven phases starting from February 10. Manipur went to polls in two phases from February 27, while Uttarakhand and Goa went to polls in a single phase on February 14. In Punjab too, polling was held in a single phase on February 20. The results of all the assembly elections will be declared on March 10.
What are the rules of exit polls?
Let us tell you that the Election Commission has banned the showing of any kind of opinion polls or exit polls before the conclusion of the elections. The Election Commission has put a ban on these five states from February 10 to March 7. During this time, print or electronic media cannot show any kind of exit polls. Violation of this rule can be punished with imprisonment of up to two years and a hefty fine.
