A militant, carrying a reward of Rs 3 lakh on his head, was killed while a District Reserve Guard (DRG) jawan sustained minor injuries in an encounter that took place in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district on Friday morning. The officer gave this information. Bastar Range Inspector General P. Sundarraj also said that the encounter took place when the DRG and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) were conducting a joint operation in the forest under Naid police station area.
CRPF officials said that the encounter started around 8.30 am near Kaka and Mosla villages. When the firing stopped, the body of a male militant, 12 bore rifle and Maoist related material were recovered from the spot.
On February 12, a CRPF officer was killed and a jawan was injured in a gunfight with militants at Putkel village under Basaguda police station area of Bijapur, when a team of 168th Battalion of CRPF was out on road domination duty.
