Boom Fact Check: Prashant Kishor is a popular face in Indian politics. Various claims, messages, photos and videos are going viral about him in the Lok Sabha elections. In this connection, a letter is being claimed on social media that election strategist and Jansuraj organization chief Prashant Kishor has been appointed as the national spokesperson of the Bharatiya Janata Party.
It is written in the viral letter, ‘BJP National President Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda has appointed Shri Prashant Kishore as the National Chief Spokesperson of BJP. This appointment comes into immediate effect.’
This letter is going viral on social media. A user shared the letter on Facebook and wrote, ‘Congratulations to the hypocrite Prashant Kishor of Jansuraj movement… he went to change Bihar, but he himself changed… he reached back where he started from…’
Boom Fact Check Team (boomlive.in) In its investigation, BOOM found that the viral letter is completely fake. In a conversation with BOOM, Prashant Kishor’s office said that this letter is fake. Prashant Kishor has not joined BJP. To investigate the viral letter, no such news report was found on searching on Google with the relevant keywords. Apart from this, no such letter was found even after searching the social media handles of BJP and Prashant Kishor.
However, a post was found on Prashant Kishor’s Jansuraj organisation’s ex handle. In this post, along with refuting the viral letter, Congress’ communication in-charge Jairam Ramesh was accused of sharing it. Jansuraj tagged Congress, Rahul Gandhi and Jairam Ramesh along with Delhi Police and wrote, ‘Look at the irony, Congress, Rahul Gandhi, you all talk about fake news and claim to be victims of it. Now see for yourself how Congress’ communication in-charge Jairam Ramesh, a senior leader, is personally sharing a fake document.’
Look at the irony! @INCIndia, @RahulGandhi
You all talk about fake news and claim to be the victims. Now see yourself how the head of Communications of Congress Party, @Jairam_Rameshapparently a senior leader, is personally circulating a fake document.@delhipolice pic.twitter.com/NJFrKhznU9— Jan Suraaj (@jansuraajonline) May 22, 2024
