Jammu. Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials conducted raids at 11 locations in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) in connection with the fake gun license scam in which Rs 2.78 lakh was released to non-entitled persons. The ED conducted raids till Thursday evening.
ED sources said teams from Chandigarh, Jammu and Kashmir and Delhi launched simultaneous raids at 11 places, including a serving IAS officer and several officers of the Jammu and Kashmir Administrative Service (JKAS). who had variously served as Deputy Commissioners (DCs) and Additional Deputy Commissioners (ADCs) between 2013 and 2016.
Searches were conducted at the residences of serving and retired officers including Rajiv Ranjan, IAS, former Kupwara DC. Apart from this, searches were also conducted at the residences of several other officers.
The residences of six arms dealers were also raided, from where incriminating documents were recovered, which suggest that senior bureaucrats of Jammu and Kashmir are involved in the gun license scam.
The Central Bureau of Investigation is already probing the case and the ED has registered a separate case in this scam to probe money laundering and other financial aspects of the scam.
