New Delhi. Amid the ongoing farmer protests in Delhi, a viral video of Bharatiya Kisan Union (Siddupar Ekta) president and farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal has sparked controversy. The BJP has claimed that these protesters believe that Prime Minister Modi’s popularity has increased because of the Ram Temple, and hence, the protest is aimed at bringing down his graph. However, the authenticity of this video has not been confirmed by Newrumpost India. Nonetheless, it has gained popularity on social media.
After unsuccessful meetings on February 8 and 12, the Center has invited farmer leaders for the third round of talks. These discussions were proposed as tensions rose near the borders of Punjab and Haryana, where farmers were marching towards Delhi with their demands including MSP for crops and debt relief laws. These marches led to two days of clashes with the police, resulting in several injuries. However, farmer leaders have announced that they will not attempt to march towards Delhi again till the meeting. The meeting is to be held today at 5 pm. Farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher said, “We will decide the next action based on the proposals put forward by the Centre.” “We will discuss any proposal from the government and take a decision accordingly,” he said.
Despite facing violence, Pandher stressed the need for a peaceful solution: “Even if they shoot us, we want a solution to our issues. Our movement has become international. BJP is dividing the country in the name of religion. Congress is equally responsible. “Our people, we stood peacefully, yet tear gas was fired on us.”

In support of farmers, former Punjab CM Charanjit Singh Channi said, “Farmers’ issues should be resolved immediately. The Congress government has waived off the loans of farmers, but both the Central and Punjab governments are ignoring their issues. Therefore, the farmers opted for another struggle, which would be stronger. The government should take their problems seriously.”
