Under the chairmanship of Collector Sanjeev Kumar Jha, a meeting of the District Level Animal Cruelty Prevention Committee was organized in the Collectorate Hall on Monday. In the meeting, a detailed discussion was held regarding the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act and animal welfare. Along with this, it was decided to register an FIR with fine on the cattle owners who leave milch cows open in Ambikapur city.
Collector Jha said that milch animals are left open by the animal owners in the city, leading to accidents and road blockades. It is necessary to make the city road animal free. He directed the Municipal Corporation and Veterinary Department to take necessary action for action against fine and FIR. In connection with the burial of dead animals, the Forest Department and Municipal Corporation officials were directed to take action to bury the carcasses of animals while marking the forest department’s land located near Agrasen Gaushala. It was also decided to arrange two sheds in Agrasen Gaushala for arranging separate sheds for nomadic, handicapped and old animals and to open a call center and SPCA office round the clock. In the meeting, it was asked to prepare a proposal for sanctioning funds from DMF for infrastructure construction in the District Veterinary Hospital located at the divisional headquarters. Along with this, necessary measures were also asked to arrange treatment tables for the treatment of small and big animals in the veterinary hospital, to provide all the necessary resources for cleanliness and drainage system. District Panchayat member Rajnath Singh, Municipal Commissioner Vijay Dayaram K, Additional Superintendent of Police Vivek Shukla, members of the committee and departmental officers were present in the meeting.
Another mutton market will open in the city-
Simultaneously, it was decided to identify one more mutton market in the city to reduce the pressure of mutton market in the marine drive. Similarly, to stop the sale of illegal meat, emphasis was also laid on building slaughter houses in the block headquarters and town panchayats.
