New Delhi. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday accused Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav of allegedly joking of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) founder Kanshi Ram and “insulting” the Dalit community.
BJP IT cell chief Amit Malviya shared a video of Akhilesh Yadav on the social media platform X and accused him of advancing the legacy of SP founder Mulayam Singh Yadav and insulting Kanshi Ram.
Malaviya wrote, “Akhilesh Yadav insulted the Kshatriya society by supporting the statement of the SP MP who first called Rana Sanga a traitor. Now he is ridiculing Kanshi Ram ji, the pioneer of Dalit society, only to show him younger than Mulayam Singh. To say that Kanshi Ram was not winning the election and the SP has won him, the SP is an insult to the entire Dalit society. There is also no cure for this disease named ‘Secularism’. “
In fact, this controversy arose when Akhilesh Yadav recently said in a program, “It is history, but it is also true that if someone had taken the founder of Bahujan Samaj Party to the Lok Sabha, he was the voters here who had taken him to the Lok Sabha. He was unable to win from anywhere.”
He said, “It is recorded in history that if someone had helped the party’s founder Kanshi Ram to win, he was Netaji (Mulayam Singh Yadav) and socialists who helped him to take him to the Lok Sabha.”
Let us tell you that Kanshi Ram was first elected to the Lok Sabha from Etawah under the SP-BSP alliance in 1991. During this time, the SP-BSP alliance proved to be a major turn in the politics of Uttar Pradesh, which united the backward castes and Dalits against the growing influence of the BJP. However, the alliance broke after the notorious guest house scandal of 1995, where SP workers allegedly attacked Mayawati.
Despite all these controversies, Kanshi Ram’s Lok Sabha victory in 1991 strengthened his political legacy and established the BSP as a national political force.
