New Delhi. After the defeat in the 2023 World Cup final, Team India is ready to embark on a new journey. After the World Cup, they will be seen playing One Day Internationals (ODIs) for the first time, starting with the three-match ODI series against South Africa. The first match will be held in Johannesburg at 2:30 pm Indian time.
Ruturaj Gaikwad will miss the first ODI due to alleged fever, paving the way for Rajat Patidar to open the innings in his absence. Three Indian players can make their ODI debut against South Africa. These include Rinku Singh, opener Sai Sudarshan and Rajat Patidar.
During a press conference before the first ODI, captain KL Rahul confirmed his role as the wicketkeeper-batsman and hinted at Sanju Samson to bat in the middle order. Rahul is likely to bat at number four, while Samson may come in at number five.
Sai Sudarshan and Rajat Patidar can be seen opening the innings in the probable playing eleven for the first ODI. After this, Shreyas Iyer can be at number three and captain KL Rahul can be at number four. After him Sanju Samson and Rinku Singh can take the stage. Talking about the bowling department, there can be two spinners in the form of Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav. Additionally, three fast bowlers – Mukesh Kumar, Avesh Khan and Arshdeep Singh – could be included in the playing eleven.
