Islamabad: The United Nations Food Agency has said that more than 300 Afghan people have died in flash floods in Afghanistan. More than 1,000 homes were also destroyed in Afghanistan’s northern province of Baghlan due to flooding, Ajnaly said. The United Nations World Food Program said on Saturday it was distributing biscuits to flood survivors. The flooding follows unusually heavy rainfall in Afghanistan over the past few weeks.

Hundreds of people have also been injured due to the flood. A Taliban official gave this information on Saturday without giving exact figures. State-owned media outlets in neighboring Takhar province reported at least 20 deaths due to floods.

Zabiullah Mujahid, the main spokesman of the Taliban government, wrote on the social media platform ‘X’ on Saturday, “Hundreds of people have died in this devastating flood while a large number of people have been injured.” Mujahid described Badakhshan, Baghlan, Ghor and Herat provinces as the most affected.
