Upcoming Off-Road SUV’s: There is a huge segment of off road cars in the Indian car market, and considering the demand for such vehicles, automakers are also working in this direction, currently Mahindra Thar is highly preferred in the off road segment. However, now that new vehicles are going to arrive in this segment, in fact Mahindra is working on a 5-door version of Thar on one hand, while Maruti is planning to launch more Force Gurkha on Jimny.
Force Gurkha 5-Door
First of all, let’s talk about Force Gurkha. This car has been seen many times on testing. There is no doubt that the 5-door Gurkha will be built on a stretched version of its regular C in C platform. It is expected to have a wheelbase of around 2.8 metres, which means that it will be around 400mm longer than the regular Gurkha. There will also be multiple seating configurations, including 6- and 7-seat layouts and captain seats in some variants. Talking about the price, the price of this car can be fixed around 12.30 lakhs.
Mahindra Thar
Mahindra has confirmed that it will soon launch the 5-door version of the Thar. While no official date has been revealed yet, it is expected that the Mahindra Thar 5-door will be launched in 2023. The price of which can start from Rs 14 lakh (ex-showroom). The Mahindra Thar 5-door will be powered by a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol and a 2.2-litre diesel engine from the current model. At the same time, the option of 6-speed manual and automatic gearbox can be found in its transmission options.
Maruti Jimny 5-door
Keeping up with the growing demand for lifestyle SUVs, Maruti is now planning to bring its globally popular Jimny SUV to the country. The company is preparing a 5-door version of the SUV, which is expected to be launched in 2023. The company may also launch a 3-door version along with the new 5-door model. The SUV could get a 1.5-litre K15B petrol engine mated to the SHVS mild hybrid system with manual and automatic gearbox options. Experts believe that this car can be launched at a price of around 10 lakhs.
