Single Use Plastice Ban: The central government has completed preparations regarding the ban on single use plastic in the country. For this, the government has made laws in collaboration with the Central Pollution Control Board. CPCB has adopted several measures for this. The pollution board has clarified that from July 1, if the sale of single-use plastic is seen, strict action will be taken. Under this, the manufacturing, import, stocking, distribution, sale and use of single-use plastic items has been banned.
Items to be banned from July 1
– ear buds with plastic sticks
– plastic stick of balloons
– plastic flags
– candy stick
– ice cream stick
– Decorative Thermocol
– Plastic plates and cups
– Plastic Packing Items
– Plastic invitation card
– cigarette packets
– PVC banners measuring less than 100 microns
What is single use plastic?
Single use plastic refers to those products. Which can be used only once. It does not dispose easily. Single-use plastics range from packaging to items such as bottles, polythene bags, face masks, coffee cups, cling film, garbage bags and food packaging.
What is the option now?
CPCB has requested people to opt for eco-friendly option. The government has suggested to use cotton bags instead of plastic bags. The circular said that natural cloth can be used instead of plastic bags. Durable laundry made from organic cotton, wool or bamboo does not leave plastic fibers behind.
