The demand for CNG-powered vehicles is increasing in the Indian automobile market due to the high prices of petrol and diesel. Hence, many automakers are planning to introduce CNG variants of their popular models. The known example of which is the recently launched Maruti Celeria and Tiago. Maruti Brezza CNG
Indo-Japanese carmaker Maruti is all set to launch the second generation Maruti Brezza in the coming months. This compact SUV will be launched with strong hybrid technology. There is a rumor that the company will also bring Maruti Brezza CNG by April 2022. That is, the 1.5-litre K15B petrol engine present in the Brezza will come with a factory-fitted CNG kit.
Maruti Swift CNG
Maruti Suzuki’s best-selling Swift hatchback and DZire compact sedan will soon be offered with a factory fitted CNG kit. Both the models will be powered by a 1.2-litre DualJet K12c petrol engine and a CNG kit. However, no updates will be made to their exteriors and interiors.
Toyota Innova Crysta CNG
Toyota Kirloskar Motor is planning to introduce the CNG variant of the Innova Crysta MPV in the coming months. The upcoming Toyota Innova Crysta CNG will be based on the base G trim and is expected to cost around Rs 80,000 more than the current model. The Crysta will be equipped with a 2.7-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine with a CNG kit that will be offered with a manual gearbox only.
Tata Punch CNG
Tata Motors is working on a CNG version of the recently launched Punch mini SUV. It is reported to hit the roads in 2022. The Tata Punch CNG will be equipped with a 1.2-litre petrol motor and CNG kit. However, the CNG variant will be slightly less powerful and is likely to be made available with a manual gearbox only.
Maruti Baleno CNG
If reports are to be believed, the Indo-Japanese automaker may introduce a CNG variant of the Baleno premium hatchback. The company can launch the 2022 Maruti Baleno CNG with a new model, which will be launched next month (February). The new variant will be equipped with a 1.2L DualJet petrol engine producing 89bhp and a CNG kit.
Hyunai Venue CNG
Along with this, the South Korean automaker is planning to introduce more CNG models keeping in mind the demand for the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios CNG and Aura CNG variants. It is expected that the company can soon launch the Venue with the CNG kit. Currently, the compact SUV is available with 1.2L naturally aspirated petrol, 1.0L turbo petrol and 1.5L turbo diesel engine options.
