The condition of the airline which became Go First from Go Air is very bad. More than a year after the airline announced its bankruptcy, hopes of it flying again are increasingly dim. Go First’s troubles began in May last year with a flight suspension for just three days, followed by the unfortunate decision to opt for voluntary insolvency resolution process. Now, even after a year, the future of aircraft-less Go First remains uncertain. According to Bhasha news, the extended deadline for the resolution process is ending in June, although there is very little hope for its revival.
Not flown since May 3, 2023
According to the news, experts believe that the airline can also be brought into the process of liquidation. Former airline chief Kaushik Khona said that it is very sad to see that even after a year the airline has not been able to start operations. Go First has not flown since May 3, 2023. Its blue and white A320 planes are gathering dust at airports.
Most of the employees have left and many are facing uncertain times. Its hopes of getting back on track soon have further diminished as after a long legal battle, the registration of 54 aircraft of the airline has been canceled and now the lessors will take back the aircraft.
Revival of airline difficult
Experts said that the closure of this airline is a huge loss for all the customers. Revival was always possible and I hope those who are in big positions will do it. According to industry sources, revival of the airline looks difficult, but there is a lot of value left in the airline. The airline had paid around US$200 million to Airbus for its second order for 72 aircraft. Shravan Shetty, managing director of management consultancy Primus Partners, said Go First is unfortunately heading towards liquidation with revival costs rising. He said this would be yet another case of value being lost due to a lengthy NCLT process.
